Happy and Healthy Holiday Wishes

Happy and Healthy Holiday Wishes

Hello friends,
2020 has been a crazy year, and I hope you all came through it as well as can be expected.  For those of us who may have been hunkered down, quarantined, or otherwise lost touch with the Stone Soup Symphony (including myself), I thought I’d give a short recap.
We were sadly forced to cancel all of our 2020 performances and mostly shut down rehearsals due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Just to keep some musical activity going, we split the orchestra into smaller sections and got together outdoors and in garages to continue to play together and make the most of what could be done.  In some ways, it was a nice change of pace to play with string, woodwind, and brass ensembles instead of the full orchestra, however I think we all miss each other and are looking forward to getting back to the full group when we can.
Unfortunately, there was no reasonable way for us to put on our normal performances this year.
Looking forward to a better 2021…With the announcement of vaccines becoming available, I am optimistic that we can get back to some level of normalcy in 2021 and re-convene the orchestra one way or another.
As of today, we are still without a rehearsal space.  I’ve been in touch on-and-off with our usual home, the Hackettstown 1st Presbyterian Church and they have quite understandably temporarily revoked permission to use their chapel until NJ’s infection rates drop.  They expect to re-open to us once things are a little more under control.  I will be keeping a close eye on this in the new year and will try to re-assemble the Stone Soup Symphony as soon as it seems reasonable to do so.
I miss all of our musicians and fans.  I hope to see all of you again soon.

Best wishes to you and yours for a happy and healthy holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you in 2021.
Be well…

Rob Adams
President, Stone Soup Symphony
