George Akehurst Memorial Scholarship
The Stone Soup Symphony supports a scholarship, awarded in memory of George Akehurst, co-founder of Stone Soup Symphony and its conductor/music director from 1998 to 2010.
The scholarship is for graduating high school seniors who have participated as consistent members of the Stone Soup Symphony for at least 2 years.
We accept students starting at high school, but will make exceptions for younger students who have been recommended by their private music teacher.
We are ALWAYS recruiting string players of age high-school and older. Brass, woodwinds, and percussion slots are recruited as needed.
